Shilpa Shetty is a professional actress, model, producer, entrepreneur, and author. She was born to Surendra and Sunanda Shetty on 8 June 1975. She has a younger sister named Shamita Shetty. She is married to businessman Raj Kundra and together the couple is blessed with a son named Viaan Raj Kundra. She has won many accolades for her critically-acclaimed roles and blockbuster movies. These days, she is a guest judge on reality dance show.

Personal Life:

Having worked with Akshay Kumar in Main Khiladi Tu Anari (1994), Shetty began dating him on the set of Insaaf (1997), the latter having just broken up with actress Raveena Tandon. Shetty spoke openly about her relationship with Kumar. The Indian media speculated on engagement and reported that Kumar wanted Shetty to quit films and settle down. Shetty had stated, however, that she had no plans to marry. The couple broke up in 2000 whilst filming Dhadkan.

In February 2009, Shetty got engaged to Raj Kundra, with whom she was co-owner of the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket team Rajasthan Royals. The two married on 22 November 2009. The couple gave birth to a son, Viaan Raj Kundra, on 21 May 2012.

Now turned Shilpa Shetty Kundra after marriage, she is among the popular Indian celebrities with a bunch of talents. This Indian actress is not only a famous Bollywood face but also a dance producer, producer, model, writer and a businesswoman too. Along with Bollywood, she has also appeared in other language movies like Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada.

Shilpa Shetty was born in Mangalore, Karnataka to a Tuluva Bunt family in 1974. Being passionate towards dancing and music from her childhood, Shilpa learned Bharatanatyam during her childhood days. While completing her education with Podar College located in Matunga, she has also remained the team captain of volleyball at school. It was after completing her education in 10th 1991 she headed towards modeling in the year 1991. Her career started with commercials on television with Limca company. Later she was also featured in various other advertisements and commercials after which she was selected for movie roles.

In the year 1992, Shilpa received her first debut movie, Gaata Rahe Mera Dil which was a romantic drama directed by Dilip Naik. However, due to certain circumstances, the movie remained unreleased. Hence, her first movie that came on screen was Abbas-Mustan’s Baazigar where she shared the screen with Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan. The movie and the performance of Shilpa were appreciated for the movie. After this movie, Shilpa also received nominations at the ceremony of annual Filmfare Awards for both Lux Face of the Year as well as Best Supporting Actress. Some of the popular movies in the list of Shilpa’s journey includes Aag, Main Khiladi Tu Anari, Aao Pyar Karen, Hathkadi, Mr. Romeo, Pardesi Babu, Auzaar, Dhadkan, Rishtey, Phir Milenge, and many more.

She started her modeling career in 1991 by appearing in a TV commercial for Limca. When she was cast in the commercial, she had just completed her tenth-grade education.

Along with her husband Raj Kundra, Shilpa Shetty became the co-owner of the Indian Premier League team Rajasthan Royals. Together with her husband, they hold 11.7 % stake in the team.
 
She is the co-owner of the Indian chain of salons and spas called Losis.
 
While studying in school, she was the captain of the volleyball team.

In April 2007, the arrest warrants were issued against Richard Gere and Shetty by a Rajasthan based court for indulging in an obscene act in public. Gere had kissed and hugged Shetty during an AIDS awareness event.
 
In February 2007, she was invited by Keith Vaz MP to attend a reception at the House of Commons and meet British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
 
In aftermath of her Celebrity Big Brother win and racism row, she was invited to meet Queen Elizabeth II at London based Marlborough House in March 2007.
 
As she received widespread exposure and commercial work opportunities after Celebrity Big Brother, she was accused by some for exploiting racism for professional and financial gains.
 
In 2014, she collaborated with Luke Coutinho for her first book, The Great Indian Diet. She followed it up with a solo publication, The Diary of a Domestic Diva, in 2018.
